Governor’s Recommend Budget Proposal Highlights Transitioning to a Clean Energy Economy

On May 11, 2022, the Governor released his proposed budget for the FY 2022-2023. This proposed budget, “Building for Success”,  includes funds for investing in high paying jobs, quality healthcare and clean air and water as well as infrastructure to move North Carolina to a future with thriving communities based on clean energy. 

This proposed budget dog ears over $140 million for clean energy and environmental needs across North Carolina. With renewable energies continuing to grow across our state, like solar and wind, there are more opportunities than ever to do more to catch up to our peers across the country and bring a cleaner and healthier future to North Carolina. It is promising to see that the proposed budget takes into consideration environmental concerns and works to transition our state to a renewable future.
